A Message from Artistic Director Chip Decker

This is a season of celebration. It is no small feat for a professional theatre company to present a full season of wonderful plays, let alone do it very well for 20 years! Like the rest of the country, we have experienced highs and lows as national events have unfolded around us. Through it all, I am proud to say, we have held true to the belief of our mission statement, “to connect with people through the presentation of bold and innovative new works by contemporary playwrights who share our respect for language and humanity”.

This is a season of celebration. Seven years ago, we were determined to find and create a fun, exciting venue where we could present the best in live, locally produced theatre in a warm, intimate, safe and friendly environment. Now, this January, we also celebrate our five-year anniversary in our building at 650 E. Stonewall Street. Sure, it leaks, creaks and squeaks, but everyone who works on, performs in, or attends a performance of a show immediately feels like a part of a family, a belonging to a happening you just can’t get in a large, marble and glass behemoth.

This is a season of celebration. 20 years presenting, five years in our own building, is all made possible by the love and support of numerous patrons and supporters. This really is a celebration about you. Believing in and being a constant and faithful supporter of ATC for so many years, you desire this gift. This season is our anniversary present to all of you.

We have a season of grisly fun, gut-wrenching and heart-warming family stories and a slew of singing zombies. Plus, as a first for ATC, we have commissioned a farcical new comedy to be written and will receive its world premiere in April. Plus as a special anniversary piece, we are excited to be bringing back the smash musical hit, “BATBOY: The Musical in January, exactly 5 years to the day from our first performance of BATBOY.

This is a season of celebration. We have worked very hard to plan a fun, exciting, heartfelt season of fabulous, bold and innovative plays. This is our Thank You to all of you who made this celebration possible.
